We know wellness involves more than working out. The Y offers several wellness programs throughout the year to come alongside you and your wellness journey.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight, get stronger, eat healthier, fight disease, improve your energy or lower stress, we have people and programs in place to help. We offer a variety of fun, high-quality programs that are included in your Y membership or require an additional fee.

For more than 130 years, the Y has served as a nonprofit leader and partner in community health, delivering evidence-based health programs and interventions that benefit vulnerable populations and those managing the life-altering effects of chronic disease.

Bryan YMCA

Yoga Therapeutics for High Blood Pressure
Small Group Training

Join Richard Bakker for an 8-week specialty yoga series for those who have been affected by high blood pressure to find a holistic approach to better manage this condition.

Pre-requisite meetings with Richard begin in January, by appointment with Richard.

GetOutdoors Kayaking Clinics

One of the largest canoe, kayak, and bicycle retailers in the Southeast, GetOutdoors offers a variety of safety and skills classes, as well as kayak demos, and day or overnight trips at many of the region's top paddling destinations. Experience learning how to paddle comfortably and safely with the most knowledgeable and passionate staff in the business!

Rolling Clinic
January 10 to March 21 | Tuesday/Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm
Become a more skilled and knowledgeable paddler in this five session, kayak rolling focused clinic! Wet exits, proper form, stroke techniques and bracing are also covered.
Cost: $160 with your own gear | $260 with no gear

Get some kayak rolling practice in! Note: This session is not instructional.

Adaptive Paddling | 1/14 & 2/18 | Cost: $20
Designed to teach paddling to those with physical disabilities in the comfort of an indoor pool setting, each session is customized to a participant's abilities.

Rescue/ Recovery Classes | 1/21, 2/11, & 3/11 | Cost: $50
Learn and practice basic kayak and/or paddle board rescues from the comfort of an indoor pool.

Reidsville YMCA

Walk to the Beach

Can you walk to the beach in just 12 weeks? Walk to the beach is a challenge to get you moving and utilizing the Reidsville YMCA! The distance between Reidsville and the NC coastline is approximately 236 miles and each visit to the YMCA earns “miles walked."

Those who successfully walk 236 miles will be entered into a drawing for 2 prizes. One of the prize drawings will be for a weekend at the beach!

Dates: February 6 to April 29, 2023 | A minimum of 30 participants are required by February 5 to hold the program.
Price: $10, Members Only | Registration includes a t-shirt
(An additional $5 will be added after January 25)
Instructions: Miles will be tracked by YMCA membership card scans. Each visit to the Reidsville YMCA = 6 beach miles toward 236 total beach miles. That’s an average of 3.5 visits/week for 12 weeks (only one visit per day). Winners will be announced the week of May 1, 2023.

  • Those who successfully complete the challenge will be entered into a prize drawing.
  • Grand Prize: Weekend at the BEACH!
  • Runner-up Prize: Beach vacation-themed gift basket.

Senior Mobility and Strength Focused
Small Group Personal Training

If your goals include mobility and strength training, this one’s for you! This Small Group Training session is led by NASM-certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor, Mo Summers. Each session is catered toward health seekers that are looking for personalized and effective guidance in their fitness routine. Unlike Bootcamp, Small Group Training sessions improve your fitness through personal attention and tailored exercise. They are designed to help you achieve maximum results and avoid injury. Each session will include a
health education, goal-setting, and more!

This program is geared towards seniors, but participants of all ages/abilities are welcome!

Cost: $40 Members | $55 Community Guests (6 participants MAXIMUM)
(Cost goes up by $10 on 1/26)
When: February 1 - March 8 (6 total sessions)

Time: 10:30-11:30 AM every Wednesday

Make the Miles Count Mileage Challenge
Running/Walking, Swimming & Cycling Challenge

Make the miles count in January! Choose to run or walk 30 miles, swim 10 miles or cycle 80 miles between January 1-25, 2023. Participants who complete this challenge will receive a YMCA water bottle, and the top two from each category with the longest overall distances will each receive a YMCA T-shirt.

Whether you run for the prize or just cycle for yourself, grab some friends and step up to the challenge!

Dates: January 1-25, 2023
Price: Member: $10 | Community Guest: $15

  • Run/Walk : treadmill, outdoor track, elliptical or complete anywhere in the world
  • Swim: laps in the YMCA pool (36 full length laps = 1 mile OR 72 shallow end laps = 1 mile) or complete anywhere in the world
  • Cycle: recumbent bike, upright bike, cycle, or complete anywhere in the world

Women on Weights

Are you interested in learning more about strength training and how to incorporate free weights into your workout? This 4-week class is specifically designed for women who want to increase their knowledge of weight training, understanding of proper lifting techniques, and increasing their muscle mass!

Baby & Me Yoga

The class is designed for caregivers and babies aged 0-5 years, this class will be 25 - 30 minutes of yoga with the baby and 15 minutes of socialization for parents and babies. Participants need to bring a yoga mat and a blanket (no specific kind of blanket, just a blanket to use for the baby).
